a month ago i would have said z-keys. ectos aren't spent as readily as z-keys back into the game. although recently, more people are trying to strike it rich with z-keys and the prices have been declining slightly. they both atm hhover between 5-4.8k. so idk. safe bet is lockpicks bought at towns =D 300k a stack. takes more space but solid pricing. could take longer to convert back into cash though of course. meh, if ur storing more cash than u can hold, then find something interesting to buy. zaishen title=ultimate money-sink title =D

While just spending the money is usually the route I choose, there are occassions where you need more than 100k worth in a trade window to buy something (such as Armbraces).

For that purpose I usually use Z-Keys as my second currency of choice.
I am playing GW very on and off, the ons and offs usually taking months. Whenever I came back from a break, the Ecto-Price shocked me (in 2005 there was a time when they were at 10k, years later they dropped below 3k, now they are still fluctuating at a low level), while Z-Keys remained relatively stable around 4.8-5k.
Whenever everyone gets their monthly tournament prediction keys, prices drop - two weeks later they get back to 5k. Same applies to PvP events such as the recent RA double faction.

Lockpicks might be the most stable choice, but unfortunately they are not generally accepted for high-end trades.
Ectos are still the most common sub-currency (virtually everyone accepts them), but recently I had no probelms at all paying people in Z-Keys either - even if Ecto was asked, nobody refused to accept Z-Keys.

So -- unless A.Net makes major changes to how these keys are acquired -- I guess Z-Keys will soon be the new sub-currency in GW, being both, stable and generally accepted.
And well... making prices easier to calculate, since you don't have to run to the [Rare Materials] NPC before every transaction to check on current prices.

Ecto's have lost much of it's value, Z-keys will lose some of it's value this year. Just keep the gold, only buy items when you need to spend them. (Like ecto's and shards for FoW armor)
